The Practice of Joy. We schedule everything and often forget to schedule for ourselves. After years of training and working with people I have found the practice of joy one of the most important. I am not referring to the kind of joy we get when we buy a new car. I am discussing the joy we get from gentler deeper pleasures that can become habits. That should become habits! Going for a walk, regularly connecting with those we love, ten minutes to read before bed, making that special cup of coffee or tea just for YOU. Simple every day treasures we should schedule every day. In addition to this add a few treats, schedule something special weekly. A drive in the country, going for an ice cream, stopping to buy flowers for the table,….. Something that allows us to step outside of the normal routine and does not cost much.
Some may be thinking, I do not have enough time for that. Thinking like that can be the catalyst for the need to schedule more joy in our lives. We schedule for everyone and everything else how can we not schedule for the most important person in our lives, us! Try it for two weeks and put it on your calendar. Pick something simple you can enjoy every day for a few minutes a day. Schedule your joy first, you are very much worth it! Let me know how it goes.
