We can not take care of others if we can not take care of ourselves.
Most of us know what we should be doing but we don’t do it. Sometimes on the path of life we can get so overcome, that we forget what brings us joy and just function… for years. I am not referring to clinical conditions, I am referring to life “happening”. Students sometimes ask me for recommendations in technology/apps. Some apps that I have purchased to try out are: Fabulous-Motivate Me, Pacifica and Lifesum.
Fabulous uses techniques from Duke University’s Behavioral Economics Lab. It is a Life Coach and Habit Tracker. You can do as much as you want. Behaviorism focuses on the behavior and proven methods to increase or decrease a behavior (I have a minor in Behaviorism so I am very fond of this app!). To me it is about finding the behaviors that reinforce you and making them habits which will create long term lasting change. You also must agree to participate for 6 months to create lasting life change! This app includes several additional resources. It also has a additional purchase Sphere which includes more support.
Pacifica is an app designed for anxiety and depression. It includes a daily check in, health recommendations, talks, music, meditations,… in a supportive, non intrusive way. The strategies are based in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.
Lifesum is a food tracker which allows you to pick from a variety of plans: Ketogenic, Scandinavian, Mediterranean, Clean,…. It includes recipes, Food monitoring by carbs, protein and fat,… many additional tracking and syncing options.
All apps are paid subscriptions. For additional information check the app store. No app replaces medical treatment. As always, Keep Yourself Sacred!
